Since 2018, Saola serves the everyday adventurers with lightweight, comfortable, stylish, low carbon, nature-inspired footwear. Our story began in Colorado. We are a group of committed individuals with a passion for fashion and a deep love for the great outdoors. We work every day to transform the fashion industry and are constantly looking for innovation and best practices. We reinvent ourselves, and are constantly looking for inspiration from artists, everyday heroes and wilderness expeditions.
As a designer and manufacturer, we know that our business has impacts and we are aware of our responsibilities. We are lucky that we can use our brand awareness and community to influence behaviors, whether at the individual, national or industry level.
Our first objective is to continually offer the most eco-friendly footwear, by working on innovative materials, analyzing product’s entire life cycle, and eventually shifting our business models.MORE INFORMATION
Our mission is also to use our growth to protect even more lands – forests, sources – and endangered species by selecting reliable partners with measurable results in the regions that need us the most.
The animal named “saola” was discovered in 1992 in the mountains between Vietnam and Laos. Nicknamed "the unicorn of Asia", this small antelope is one of the rarest animals on the planet with only 300 individuals recorded. Its story reminds us how creative and beautiful nature can be, while it outlines the great fragility of ecosystems and the need to protect them. The saola has thus become the emblem of our commitment to biodiversity.
Our shoes are distributed on 4 continents and we are consistently upgrading our best practices to achieve the best environmental and social trade-offs at a global scale. We are proud to offer the leading footwear in terms of carbon weight and to have developed long-term, trustful manufacturing ties in Vietnam, a land of innovation and a bridge between Europe and the United States, our two main markets. In parallel, we plan to progressively deploy production units closer to our consumers, ie Europe & the US. It is important to us to keep a competitive price positioning because we believe that sustainable choices should be available and affordable to everyone.
